What are the responsibilities and job description for the SV Corporate Intern (M) position at Gregory Poole Equipment Company?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Paid internship opportunity with Gregory Poole’s Energy and Transportation Team. Assist with operational functions within the Power Systems Rental group while completing the Internship Program. Associates participating in the internship program will be based in the Garner-Raleigh area but can expect occasional travel outside of the Raleigh area. Current Gregory Poole Energy and Transportation locations include Garner, Beaufort, and Wanchese. This is an exciting development opportunity for college students pursuing a AS/AA/BA/BS or graduate degree in Engineering, Sales/Marketing, Information Management, Economics, Statistics, Math, Accounting, or related field. The Power Systems Rental business is fast paced; successful team members are high energy and have a customer first mentality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
I. Classroom/Field Training - Percent of Time Spent = 20%
Participation in GPEC’s Internship Program includes a combination of classroom training, technician ride-a-longs and jobsite visits, job shadowing, and on the job training.
II. Operations Support - Percent of Time Spent = 55%
Provides support in identifying and scheduling repair work that is due by time/hours for rental units in the field long-term.
Daily monitors and coordinates rental equipment hauling schedule to ensure timely equipment delivery and pick-up; and immediately contacts customers with any schedule updates, modifications, or delivery problems.
Serves as a liaison between departments and branches for rental equipment pricing, availability, transportation, and repair. etc.
III. Administrative - Percent of Time Spent = < 30%
The administrative activities will be in two areas: equipment/inventory and process development. Individuals in this position will be trained and can perform in each main area, even though he/she may take a stronger lead in one specific area.
A. Equipment /Inventory
Ensure rental units are operational by coordinating repairs and maintenance with rental service technicians.
Manages opening and closing of service calls/repair orders for the rental service team.
Verifies gate log ensuring equipment is tracked for inventory security.
Maintains current and accurate fleet service records for each unit.
Maintains current inventory usage records and ensures accurate and timely billing.
B. Process Development
Works with Operations Manager in documenting process to drive consistency and accountability for equipment maintenance.
Assists Operations Manager with implementation of service call management.
Reviews telematics information from fleet on daily basis, identifying assets that may require service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
College junior or senior pursuing a related AS/AA/BA/BS or graduate degree in Engineering, Sales/Marketing, Information Management, Economics, Statistics, Math, Accounting, or related field.
Work Experience:
Basic mechanical and product knowledge is desirable.
Physical:
Must be able to work for extended periods while seated. Must have the ability to clearly communicate with customers on the phone or in person. Excellent customer relations are necessary.
Other:
Required basic level skills with keyboard and Microsoft software, preferably Excel and Word. Driver’s license.
