Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing Power & Energy Business Unit. You will be responsible for the analysis, design, and optimization of power systems including Switchgear, Switchboards, PDU’s and Panelboards for distribution infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient operation while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze electrical loads and power requirements for automation equipment and facilities
- Design power systems, including distribution, switchgear, switchboards, panel boards and MCC’s
- Perform power flow, harmonics, and stability studies to ensure system reliability and prevent blackouts
- Select and specify electrical components such as switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays
- Use design tools like Siemens Encompass and/or Square D’s SE Advantage to design power systems
- Develop and implement protection schemes to safeguard equipment and personnel
- Liaise with mechanical and control engineers to coordinate power system integration with automation controls
- Perform short-circuit calculations and analysis to size protective devices and ensure system safety
- Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and advancements in power systems, including renewable energy integration and microgrids
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for projects
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success
Qualifications
What we need you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in power systems engineering for industrial or commercial applications.
- Strong understanding of power system theory, including power generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization principles.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, or ETAP.
- Ability to perform short-circuit calculations and apply protective device coordination principles.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards: UL1558, UL891, UL67, UL845, UL 508A
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused.
Additional Information:
- Hybrid Position - Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 4 days per week and 1 day remote.
