Job Description:
- Set up basic and work order BOMs (bills of material)
- Up-date BOMs (bill of material) to meet necessary requirements for production and purchasing.
- Activate and release BOMs
- Provide workbooks for production (routing tickets, cutting sheets and pick lists)
- Work with production planning software (SAP a plus) to enter information.
- Ensure that BOMs match and have updated revision levels
- Communication with Design Coordination, Production, Planning and Purchasing departments
- Verify estimated manufacturing hours across all production areas (CNC laser, Press brake, Welding, Machining and Assembly) are reasonable and achievable. This would include discussions with the Manufacturing Supervisor and Manufacturing Management.
- Determine what parts should be outsourced based on in-house capabilities and capacities.
- In some cases, convert metric materials to imperial materials easily sourced from North American suppliers. In other cases, Engineering should be involved due to how parts are assembled and how the small differences between metric and imperial materials can compound and affect overall dimensions and tolerances.
Requirements:
- Strong technical background
- At least 5 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints in metric and imperial system
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC laser cutting, metal bending, welding, machining
- Ability to work independently, but also as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking skills
- Basic computer knowledge
