Landscape Technician Job Description
The Role
The Landscape Technician is responsible for helping the landscape come to life. Technicians work as a unified team under the direction of the Landscape Foreman. Technicians have the opportunity to learn and excel at a variety of construction installation means/ methods, customer service, and equipment operation. Landscape Technicians have a strong background in landscaping operations, including plant installation, hardscape construction, and maintenance tasks. Landscaping Technicians at Grey Rock Landscape play a crucial role in contributing to the beauty and functionality of our landscaping projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to understand their preferences and vision for outdoor spaces.
- Follow provided plan to execute landscape installation projects, including planting, irrigation, and hardscape construction.
- Work directly with Project Coordinator and Crew Leader to ensure all requirements for the project are met.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning, and fertilizing.
- Monitor and assess the health of plants, addressing issues promptly.
- Install and repair various hardscape features, including patios, walkways, and retaining walls.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment required for hardscape construction.
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates on project progress.
- Address client concerns and ensure satisfaction with completed projects.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient project execution. Assist in training new team members and sharing expertise.
- Employees will adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times, promoting a safe working environment.
- Ensure quality standards are met during all landscaping tasks and installations.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or quality issues to the supervisor promptly.
- Read, understand and acknowledge the Employee Handbook and the Safety Manual.
Additionally, all Landscape Technicians should have the following items available to them each day for safety, productivity and branding purposes.
- Safety Glasses
- Work Boots (steel or composite toe)
- Long Pants
- Hearing Protection (ear muffs or ear plugs)
- Dust Mask
- Utility Knife
- Grey Rock T-Shirt, Hoodie, or Hat
Technicians work (4) 10-Hour days, Monday-Thursday during the landscape season. The work day begins at the time and location designated by the Landscape Foreman.
All employees will be issued a login for recording time via Jobber. It is expected that all employees use this app and keep accurate records of their time. All time must be coded to the correct job.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years’ experience as a landscaper or similar role
- Proficient in operating landscaping tools and equipment
- Physical fitness and the ability to repeatedly lift over 50 lbs. as well as perform tasks in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic
- Dependable and reliable
- Attention to detail
- Positive attitude and willingness to problem solve
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass an MVR and a background check
- Courteous and professional
