Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) for will be responsible for nursing care and the facilitation of medical care for Greylock Recovery patients. The DON will also be responsible for provision of patient education regarding recovery capital and evidence-based ways to continue their successful recovery after discharge. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to both provide and supervise excellent facility-wide nursing care with little supervision. They will be compassionate, even-tempered, and able to follow health and safety guidelines/regulations faithfully and consistently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients’ conditions and assess their needs to provide the best possible treatment and advice.
- Observe and interpret patients’ symptoms and communicate them in a timely way to advanced practice clinicians and physicians.
- Collaborate with the clinical team (including advanced practice clinicians and physicians) to devise individualized care plans for patients.
- Perform routine procedures accurately (blood pressure measurements, administering injections, withdrawal scales, etc.) and record in patients’ charts.
- Adjust, monitor, and administer patients’ medication and provide treatments per advanced practice clinician and physician orders.
- Discuss any concerns about a patient’s plan, medications, or condition with advanced practice clinicians and physicians.
- Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds, etc.).
- Provide first aid and medical care in emergencies and coordinate with Emergency Medical Services as needed.
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment among the staff in order to provide excellent patient care.
- Expand knowledge and capabilities by attending educational workshops and conferences and sharing this learning with the clinical team.
- Develop and coordinate the infection prevention and control program throughout the facility. Implement the program by formulating, establishing, and evaluating policies and procedures relating to patient care infection control measures throughout the facility.
- Performs an annual assessment of Infection prevention and control program and develops action plans from the prior year activities.
- Attending and presenting at regularly scheduled Leadership meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Medical Director or CEO.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hire, supervise and train LVN/RNs, direct care staff, and clinical staff on medication observation, infection control procedures, and all other required trainings.
- Responsible for supervising waived testing certificates, providing orientation and training to, and assessing the competency of, staff who perform waived testing.
- Conduct and document performance reviews for direct report staff as needed and provide to Human Resources.
- Document employee counseling (verbal or written) as needed for performance improvement and provide to Human Resources.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Proven experience as a registered nurse.
- Successful experiences working in facilities focused on substance abuse disorders and mental health.
- Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of emergency care preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them always is preferred.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required.
- Minimum one-year supervisory experience.
- Minimum three-year related work experience preferred.
- Experience working with substance use disorder treatment and behavioral healthcare preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid Massachusetts Nursing License.
- Valid driver's license or valid government issued identification.
