POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Sr Accountant to support the accounting functions of our client in Houston, Texas for various lines of business. The role will support the month-end close process, consolidation of financial statements, project accounting and general ledger review. The role will work side-by-side with the Controller, and other members of the accounting team, and will be back up to complete day-to-day accounting functions including A/R, A/P, cash posting, payroll review, and other general accounting activities. Will also be responsible for identifying areas for improvement and putting measures into place to execute the improvements and acting as a lead and go to for other team members. We value in-person collaboration and synergies; accordingly, this is an in -office role reporting to the Houston Headquarters office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for supporting the company’s month-end close process and reconciliations, ensuring work is completed in an accurate and timely manner to meet deadlines.
- Responsible for preparing consolidated financial statements for reporting packages as required by internal business leaders and lending partners.
- Assists with audit preparation and acts as a liaison between company and third-parties.
- Drives the development of accounting policies, SOP’s and other controls for the company.
- Project based accounting expert for various lines of business.
- Supports other accounting functions when needed: customer invoices, posts cash, reviews payables, and performs other general accounting activities.
- Supports and serves as back up to accounts payable ensuring timely payments of vendors.
- Provides regular and timely updates relevant to accounting function to leaders and other stakeholders.
- Performs ad hoc requests for Controller and other business leaders as requested.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines with a focus on detail and accuracy.
- Strong Microsoft Excel including familiarity with pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions, Macro, Power BI
- Strong analytical skills including an ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must demonstrate ability to identify and fix processes.
- Must be highly organized and demonstrate an ability to prioritize work activities.
- Capable of working independently, with minimal supervision, or as part of a team.
- Comfortable partnering with other business functions including Human Resources, Legal, Business Development, and front-line employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance.
- Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in supporting and overseeing accounting functions.
- Experience with project accounting.
- Familiarity with the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions required.
- Construction or heavy equipment experience is bonus.
