Description
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – with a strong interest in Endocrinology to join our growing practice. The APP will work collaboratively to provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of endocrine disorders, including thyroid conditions, adrenal and pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity, among others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments that are accurate, complete, and relevant to the patient’s age, gender, and clinical condition. Utilize critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data to determine diagnoses.
- Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans for general medical and surgical conditions, including prescribing medications and therapies. Consider indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other treatments.
- Administer or order diagnostic tests, interpret results accurately, and incorporate findings into the patient’s treatment plan.
- Provide patient and family-centered care that is compassionate and effective. Educate patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management, while advocating for patient needs.
- Manage outpatient follow-up care, triage patient needs, and make appropriate, timely referrals to other healthcare providers or community agencies to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) of all patient encounters, treatments, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Stay abreast of developments and best practices in relevant medical fields. Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality measures for the clinic to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Deliver care that promotes health, prevents illness, and treats disease throughout the lifespan in a manner that is appropriate to the patient's needs and circumstances.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to keep current with advancements in medical practice, ensuring the provision of high-quality care.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) by the New York State of New York
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required within 90 days of service
- 1 year of experience in internal medicine or endocrinology preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care techniques
- Strong clinical skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of medical conditions
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
- Critical thinking, time management, strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to handle various clinical situations.
