The Job : The Sr. Designer is responsible for working collaboratively to design and problem-solve graphic solutions and for a variety of Museum projects including exhibitions, print collateral, signage, and experiences.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, plan and design graphics for permanent, temporary and touring exhibits as well as other non-exhibit, print and digital projects.
- Facilitate, conduct and / or participate in group creative discussions, charrettes, design meetings, staff meetings, reviews and project critiques.
- Research, organize and present graphic design concepts, visual references and innovative design solutions.
- Develop and complete design assignments from preliminary design concepts through completion.
- Coordinate communications with internal clients regarding design solutions, materials and project timelines.
- Work closely with and provide support to the Production Manager to elevate and solve creative issues in a timely manner.
- Provide graphic files for production and work within established budgets and timelines.
- Coordinate, maintain and organize digital and hardcopy archives of all graphic design projects.
- Participate in the ongoing development of the Museum's exhibit design and fabrication standards.
- Provide show quality standards and evaluation for existing facilities and exhibits by participating in exhibit walkthroughs and facility reviews.
- Participate in the daily operations, cleanliness, safety and organization and efficiency of the Design Department and production areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as basic math, percentages, pro-ration, etc.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concreate variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally exposed to humid and / or outside weather conditions.
