Electrical Mechanic – 3rd Shift (Food Manufacturing)

Our client, a leading food manufacturing company committed to producing high-quality products while maintaining strict safety, efficiency, and innovation standards, seeks a highly skilled Electrical Mechanic with strong electrical expertise and PLC troubleshooting experience to join our maintenance team on the 3rd shift .

Job Summary

The Electrical Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong electrical background , hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting , and proficiency in PLC troubleshooting . Candidates must be available to work 3rd shift and be open to overtime, including weekends and holidays as needed .

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems, automated production equipment, and machinery .
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) issues , including troubleshooting for Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to identify and fix malfunctions.
  • Install, repair, and maintain motors, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), sensors, relays, switches, and industrial control systems .
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards , OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with maintenance and production teams to enhance plant performance.
  • Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrical systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation of work performed.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and plant improvement projects.
  • Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting (food manufacturing preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Expertise in industrial electrical systems , including 480V 3-phase power, control circuits, and low-voltage systems .
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals .
  • Experience working with automation systems, sensors, HMIs, and industrial networks .
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and megohmmeters.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Must be able to work the 3rd shift and be available for overtime, including weekends and holidays .
  • Technical certification or an associate degree in electrical or industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Licensed or certified in Industrial Electrical Maintenance (a plus).
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform tasks that involve standing, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces .
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-temperature, and noisy environment typical of food manufacturing.
