Job summary
Gritman Medical Center is seeking a skilled Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) to join our Emergency Department team. Under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses, the ETT provides paramedical care supporting patient assessment, technical procedures, equipment management, and clerical duties like coordinating schedules and answering phones. The role involves ensuring safe, age-appropriate care for patients from neonatal to geriatric and assisting with patient information transfer. Strong communication and adaptability are essential, as the position requires interaction with families, patients, and healthcare teams in a fast-paced environment. This is for a day shift position.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
- Provide paramedical care under physician and RN supervision.
- Perform illness/injury assessments and manage direct care.
- Prepare patients for transport and transfer patient information.
- Care for patients across all age groups, ensuring age-appropriate care.

Technical Duties:
- Perform procedures within scope of practice in the Emergency Department.
- Maintain competency in department procedures and computer skills.
- Ensure medical equipment functions properly before and after procedures.

Administrative Duties:
- Assist with day-to-day operations, including supply management and acting as a unit clerk.
- Answer phones, coordinate patient schedules, and maintain orderly work areas.
- Receive and process reports from field emergency medical personnel.

Communication and Collaboration:
- Interface with guests, visitors, families, and patients.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Adapt to rapid changes in medical procedures, technology, and policies.

Compliance:
- Follow Gritman Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform other duties as requested, including flexible hours and rotating work areas.
Qualifications:

Required Licenses and Certifications:
- State of Idaho and Nationally Registered Paramedic licensure through the National Registry of EMT
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Experience:
- At least 6 months of paramedic experience.

Physical Demands:

- Standing up to 30 minutes at a time; sitting up to 2 hours at a time.
- Fine motor skills for patient handling and computer use.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring kneeling, crawling, stooping, driving, and climbing.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases.
- Contact with patients under various circumstances, including emergencies.
