Join Our Team as a Safety Manager!
Are you a proactive leader with a passion for ensuring safety and compliance in transportation? We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead our team and ensure the safety of our fleet, drivers, and operations. This is a pivotal role where you will have the opportunity to shape and maintain the safety culture within our organization, ensuring we comply with all DOT regulations while creating a safer work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Oversee all aspects of safety and compliance, including Hours of Service & ELD regulations, (PeopleNet experience a plus), Roadside Inspections, Driver Qualification Files, and DOT Drug and Alcohol testing.
- FMCSR Knowledge: Apply in-depth knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) to ensure compliance and reduce violations.
- CSA Scoring & Reporting: Manage and monitor CSA scores, and prepare reporting to address any areas of concern.
- Team Leadership: Supervise 2 Transportation Safety Supervisors, providing guidance, training, and support in their role of ensuring operational safety.
- Coaching: Lead the coaching efforts related to triggered behaviors from onboard cameras and videos (LYTX system), focusing on improving driver behavior and safety.
- Accident Investigation: Investigate & report on accidents and workers' compensation injuries, including DOT Recordable Accidents, and help implement corrective actions.
- Reasonable Suspicion Training: Ensure team members are trained in Reasonable Suspicion, addressing potential issues before they arise.
- Ongoing Safety Programs: Develop and lead initiatives for continuous improvement in safety policies, training programs, and incident prevention measures.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in Transportation and Logistics.
- Extensive experience in FMCSR compliance and DOT regulations.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing safety teams.
- Experience with PeopleNet or similar Hours of Service tracking systems.
- Knowledge of LYTX cameras or similar telematics systems and ability to coach based on behavior data.
- Proven track record in Accident and Injury Investigation.
- Reasonable Suspicion trained and up-to-date on DOT Drug & Alcohol compliance.
- Ability to analyze and report on CSA scores and take action to reduce violations.
- Strong knowledge of computer-based programs, including Excel
- This position involves 75% travel throughout the tri-state region, so home location is extremely flexible. Includes mileage reimbursement.
