About The Role
As a Law Clerk at GMKE, you will gain hands-on experience with a front-row seat to the litigation process. You will perform select attorney tasks, working directly with clients and making meaningful contributions to real-world cases while learning from top insurance defense litigators. You will also have the chance to shadow mediation sessions, depositions, and trials, gaining exposure to every phase of the case lifecycle. By the end of your clerkship, you'll have a deep understanding of the legal process as well as the knowledge and skills you need to take on a litigation attorney role.
Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive reports and analyses for insurance carriers and clients
- Support discovery by compiling and drafting objections and responses to Interrogatories, Requests for Production of Documents (RPDs), and Requests for Admissions
- Work directly with clients to gather necessary information and fill in any gaps in discovery responses and support the defense of their case
- Draft pleadings and necessary initial motions, ensuring accuracy and completeness of responses
- Write motions and responsive briefs, as well as accompanying briefs, conducting thorough legal research to support arguments and ensure persuasive presentation
- Attend and shadow mediations, depositions, and trials—an invaluable opportunity to learn from top attorneys in action and witness the litigation process firsthand
Qualifications
- 2L currently enrolled in an accredited law school
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Superior attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach
