Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is at the beginning of a long path toward building a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive (EDI) institution. We are looking for individuals, at all levels of the institution, who are interested in joining us on this journey of intentionality and public accountability. This path broadens our workforce (board, staff, volunteers), expands our artist selection and acquisition practice as well as strengthens our internal and external communication systems, networks and norms.

Museum Educators will lead and facilitate Team Building workshops, PreK - 12 workshops both onsite and offsite, studio programs, guided tours and other offerings for adult and youth visitors, with an emphasis on art making, wellness, and horticulture experiences designed for private and corporate groups, schools, teachers, and families. As a Grounds For Sculpture ambassador and key point of contact for visiting groups, Museum Educators will strive to provide memorable experiences for those with whom they work, encouraging experimentation, observation, and reflection. Museum Educators are managed by the Manager of School and Group Visits, and work collaboratively across the Education Department, as well as with other staff throughout the museum.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate tours and workshops for PreK-12 students and other youth/scout groups
  • Lead and facilitate Team Building workshops for corporate and private groups.
  • Lead and facilitate family programs for you and adults.
  • Facilitate professional development workshops for educators.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Grounds For Sculpture to help foster a culture of inclusion for all members, donors, volunteers, and guests.
  • Set and clean-up program of materials as needed, communicating with the Education Associate any supplies needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate arts and culture based educational programs. Strong knowledge of art techniques and materials. Experience in horticulture programming and practice a plus.
  • Understanding of best practices in the field of museum education a plus
  • Experience with Altru preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Comfort speaking and presenting to large groups
  • Experience working with PreK-12th grade teachers, students and afterschool programs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours on an as-needed basis
  • Proven ability to follow and develop lesson plans, ensuring program benchmarks are met
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and writing skills
  • Demonstrate respect and inclusiveness to all employees, embracing differences
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and at times, independently.
  • Experience with outlook a plus

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly Rate $30.00
