Job Summary:

The Commercial Landscaping Crew Leader/Driver oversees and performs a variety of landscape activities, such as planting, weeding, digging, spreading topsoil and other materials, and seasonal lawn preparation. The ideal candidate will be required to drive crews to sites but may also operate lawnmowers and related equipment and assist staff on all projects as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

General Landscaping – 80%

• Oversees and works with a crew of 2 – 4 employees.
• Oversees and performs planting and related activities.
• Moves materials and equipment and performs related duties to assist in landscaping and hardscaping.
• Installs hardscapes and demolishes hardscapes.
• Oversees and digs holes and trenches and excavates for landscaping and hardscaping using picks and shovels or related equipment.
• Oversees and hauls or spreads topsoil, gravel, sand, mulch, or related materials using wheelbarrows and rakes.
• Oversees and hand-finishes grade, and applies seed, straw, or sod.
• Maintains assigned equipment and notifies Landscape Manager of needed repairs.
• Responds politely to customer inquiries and projects a professional image.
• Reports to work at the required time and performs duties as assigned by the Landscape Manager
• Loads equipment and materials on and off trucks and trailers.
• Performs snow removal activities as assigned, such as shoveling, salting, etc.
• Assist Landscape Maintenance staff on projects as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Chemical Treatments – 10%

• Applies chemicals under the direction of a licensed chemical applicator.

Special Projects – 10%

• Assist and participate in special projects as assigned.
• Assist and support the Landscape Maintenance staff on projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• 2 or more years of experience in the COMMERCIAL landscaping field.
• Valid State Driver’s License and insurable with the company’s agent.
• Must be 18 years old or older
• Be able to read and write.
• Working knowledge of standard horticultural practices.
• Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently.
• Safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, reach.
• Maintain the physical fitness level necessary to complete assigned tasks.
• Follow all GroundsPRO policies and procedures with integrity
• Drivers must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Able to safely work with pesticides and in environments with various insects
• Be able to withstand strenuous work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Preferred:

• High School diploma (or equivalent)
• Pesticide Certification is a plus.
