Position Summary:
RVI has a very exciting internship opportunity on our Finance Team supporting Investment Accounting. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with a passion for a career in Finance, Accounting and Investment Portfolio Management. This internship opportunity provides hands-on experience in various aspects of finance within the insurance sector. The selected candidate will have the chance to work on projects related to cashflow and liquidity modeling, fixed income investments, commodity and currency hedging, asset valuation, financial forecasting, scenario modeling and reporting on key economic indicators and benchmarks. We are looking for someone who is willing to make a commitment for 3 summer months, with the potential for continuing part-time work throughout the school year. Primary Responsibilities:
Rating Agency Review
- Support development of key analysis for annual rating agency reviews
- Research and identify peer groups to benchmark against
- Model sources and uses of cash to identify funds available to invest
- Work closely with business leaders to age premium receivables and claim payments
- Develop compliance reporting in support of investment guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Provide economic scan of key market indicators (Federal Reserve Actions, Currency Exchange Rates, Labor Market, etc.)
- Gain practical knowledge of various accounting disciplines (GAAP, NAIC Statutory, Bermuda Monetary Authority) and regulatory requirements
- Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Provide support for regulatory audit requests
- Support the development of business requirements, workflows and controls for accounts payable and ledger conversion project
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and optimize accounting systems and tools.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Investments, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of finance and accounting principles
- Knowledge of investment environment and vehicles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Product Suite and other relevant accounting software
- Organized and ambitious, strong attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a dynamic team environment
- Must be able to commit to 2 days per week in the office with flexibility to accommodate academic demands.
