Position Purpose
As a Data Scientist is accountable for the Cooperative's data and data technologies. They are also accountable for the securing, planning, designing, data architecture, development, deployment, and maintenance of data intelligence deliverables for complex business operations. This role actively participates in Scrum ceremonies, aligning development efforts with Agile principles, and supports business decision-making by providing data integrity, security, and quality integrations in a timely manner.

This role actively participates in Scrum ceremonies, aligning development efforts with Agile principles, and supports business decision-making by providing data integrity, security, and quality integrations in a timely manner.
Essential Position Functions
- Provide data leadership to the team and company with a secured ‘cloud first’ technology mindset.
- Actively participate in working sessions to help define system and security requirements pertaining to data-related systems within Agile iterations.
- Document business requirements associated with data integration projects/processes within Agile cycles. Guide activities around functional design, architectural design, test case design, and system testing to ensure all requirements are met.
- Manage project priorities, scope, deliverables, timelines, and execution within the Agile iterations and ceremonies.
- Define data and integration standards, ensuring HIPAA standards are followed.
- Research and implement solutions for government-mandated rules related to Patient Access, Interoperability, Transparency, EDGE reporting, etc.
- Assist in the identification, evaluation, and implementation of vendor-supplied systems.
- Assure quality, reliability, and security in all solutions, aligning with the agreed DevOps approach.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of IT-related policies and procedures on a yearly basis.
- Provide staff orientation training and development.
- Define and implement data security standards for the organization. This includes but is not limited to deidentification of data for non-production environments, active directory security standards, and data design patterns which obfuscate PHI data while maintaining data efficacy.
Minimum Requirements of the Position
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related degree.
- Three years of experience and expertise building database solutions that are designed to support multiple workloads built with SQL Server on-premises and Azure SQL services and can manage the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions.
- Five years of experience using SQL and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), experience with Microsoft SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, Visual Studio, and DevOps, knowledge of RDBMS principles and database design, experience designing and implementing a data warehouse.
- Knowledge of best practices related to data security, experience with HL7, EDI, or FHIR standards, excellent project management skills, knowledge of Agile principles and methodology.
- Prior experience in healthcare or the health insurance industry preferred, prior supervisory experience preferred, securing data in production environments while providing de-identifiable information to lower development environments, experience with deployment, and data replication in a multi-stage environment.
Certification Requirements
Although it is not realistic for every candidate to carry all listed certifications, it is expected that the employee/candidate be certified in Scrum and credentialed in at least two of the Azure certifications listed below. It is also acceptable to suggest and achieve equal alternative certifications.
Scrum Certification: Within 60 days of employment obtain Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) and/or within 180 days of employment obtain the Certified Scrum Developer (PSD I/II) to demonstrate proficiency in Scrum principles and practices.
Azure Certifications:
Although it is not realistic for every candidate to carry all listed certifications, it is expected that the employee/candidate be certified in Scrum and credentialed in at least two of the Azure certifications listed below. It is also acceptable to suggest and achieve equal alternative certifications.

- PL-300 PowerBI Data Analyst (preferred)
- DP-203 Azure Data Factory (preferred)
