Production Planner
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, inventory level, and forecasted demand.
- Ensure that production plans align with available capacity, equipment, labor, and material resources.
- Monitor and adjust schedules to minimize production delays and optimize resource utilization.
- Maintain and review targets for finished good stocking levels.
- Analyze production capacity to ensure that machinery, labor, and equipment are adequately allocated to meet production targets.
- Assist in identifying potential bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to enhance workflows.
- Track production performance, efficiency, and throughput, providing reports to management on key metrics.
- Use production data to identify trends, forecast demand, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Address any discrepancies between planned and actual production output, investigating causes and suggesting improvements.
- Work closely with manufacturing supervisors to ensure smooth execution of production schedules.
- Communicate changes to the production plan, unexpected delays, or material shortages to all relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in daily production meetings to align priorities and address issues.
- Identify areas of opportunity for process optimization and contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing costs, improving efficiency, and enhancing product quality.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear protective gear while on the shop floor.
- Ability to follow and understand company policies and core values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skill Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications in production planning or project management (e.g., APICS CPIM, Six Sigma) a plus.
- 3 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing or operations management.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory control, and production scheduling software.
- Strong proficiency in production planning software (e.g., ERP systems, and/or MRP systems, Made2Manage experience a plus)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Exceptional organization and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data handling.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting of materials and supplies up to 25 pounds at a time as needed, including anything over 25 pounds with assistance (team lift).
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, machinery and other environmental factors.
