What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groveton Middle/High School Assistant Principal position at Groveton High School?
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A Master’s degree, with a major in educational administration
2. A valid state certificate to practice as a school principal
3. At least two years of experience as a teacher
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find
appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: Assists the Principal in the supervision of all staff.
JOB GOAL: To provide, by positive example, those characteristics of maturity, initiative, and
leadership which are expected of our staff and students in order to create a
pleasant and safe environment conducive to working and learning.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Maintain student conduct and discipline in a consistent, equitable, and fair manner.
2. Maintain records of student disciplinary referrals with disposition of cases. Inform parents of
disposition of cases, with parental conferences as necessary.
3. Assist in the evaluation of staff members.
4. In conjunction with the guidance office, supervise student attendance.
5. Coordinate the scheduling of school activities and functions and attend school sponsored
events..
6. Enforce school policies and regulations as they apply to students and staff.
7. Participate in meetings and conferences as required.
8. Assume the role of Principal in his or her absence.
9. Assume other duties as delegated by the Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract period of 210 days
EVALUATION: Evaluation of the Assistant Principal shall be made periodically.
