POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Registered Nurse Department: Clinical
Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly/Safety Sensitive Position Reports To: Director/Asst. Director
Position Supervises: LPN
POSITION PURPOSE
Provides nursing services to infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES
1. Works with PCP’s and other medical personnel regarding the medical needs of the patients.
2. Reports significant medical information to patient’s doctor when appropriate.
3. Maintains organized list of medications for each patient. Works with parent, doctor, and/or pharmacy to obtain information relating to the prescriptions.
4. Examines patients in need of medical services and responds appropriately. Notifies parents when necessary.
5. Gathers medical information on all new patients enrolled. Relays medical issues to therapists and treatment room staff.
6. Works to ensure each patient is evaluated and assessed within DeTASO as required in the EIDT manual.
7. Makes referrals to outside specialists and other allied health personnel.
8. Obtains discharge summaries for patients absent from the clinic due to hospitalization.
9. Instructs staff on proper procedures and documentation guidelines when accidents or incidents occur.
10. Completes reports for all cases of suspected abuse and documents cases appropriately.
11. Maintains documentation of immunizations for each patient and ensures they are current.
12. Maintains and updates list of allergies for each patient and informs appropriate parties.
13. Maintains verification records of yearly staff flu vaccines.
14. Schedules yearly flu clinic.
15. Maintains first aid kits and oxygen tanks.
16. Maintains daily temperature checks on the refrigerator containing medications.
17. Ensures that medical documentation is complete and in compliance with regulatory agencies and standards.
18. Reviews all medical records received and distributes to appropriate personnel. Interprets clinical data to identify patient risk, both actual and potential.
19. Schedules CPR training and maintains documentation of employee CPR Certification in coordination with office manager or designee.
20. Serves as a medical resource for staff.
21. May assist in marketing and patient recruitment.
22. Completes relevant and approved continuing professional education each year as required to maintain professional licensure and CCL standards.
23. May perform other related or non-related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Certification:
- Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Current Arkansaslicense as an Registered Nurse.
Experience/ Knowledge required:
- One year of successful experience in a similar position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/ Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to work with children between the ages of birth to 7 who are at risk.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
