Job Title: Erosion and Sediment Control Foreman
Location: Canonsburg, PA
Reports to: Project Manager / Field Supervisor
Department: Well Services
Compensation- $25-$30 per hour w/company vehicle after a 90-day probationary period
Job Summary:
The Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Foreman will be responsible for overseeing and managing the installation, maintenance, and inspection of erosion and sediment control measures on construction sites. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, while maintaining safety and environmental best practices. The ESC Foreman will supervise a team of laborers, subcontractors, and other personnel, ensuring that erosion and sediment control procedures are carried out effectively to minimize the environmental impact of construction activities.
- Project Oversight and Execution:
- Supervise the installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control systems, including silt fences, sediment basins, straw wattles, and erosion control blankets.
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements related to erosion and sediment control.
- Implement corrective actions as needed to comply with project-specific erosion control plans and best management practices (BMPs).
- Team Supervision:
- Lead and direct a crew of workers performing erosion and sediment control tasks.
- Delegate responsibilities, ensuring team members are trained, motivated, and efficient.
- Provide on-site instruction and guidance to workers on safety protocols and proper construction techniques.
- Inspections and Compliance:
- Conduct regular inspections of the site to ensure erosion and sediment control measures are properly installed and functioning.
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust sediment control measures accordingly to prevent site erosion during rain events.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and reports on erosion control practices, including site inspection logs and maintenance records.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, environmental consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure all erosion and sediment control requirements are met.
- Collaborate with other teams on the construction site to coordinate activities and minimize disruption to erosion control measures.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and environmental standards to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure all equipment and materials used for erosion control are in good working order and compliant with safety and environmental standards.
- Report any unsafe conditions or environmental hazards to management promptly.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure all erosion and sediment control measures are installed as per specifications and regulations.
- Perform regular quality checks to verify the effectiveness of the systems in place and make adjustments when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in erosion and sediment control or a related field (e.g., construction, environmental management).
- Prior supervisory or foreman experience is preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of erosion and sediment control techniques and environmental best practices.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental protection, stormwater management, and construction site management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and erosion control plans.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in the use of basic construction tools and equipment.
- Proficient in heavy equipment such as (Mini Excavators, skid steers, track trucks) etc.….
- Certifications:
- Erosion and Sediment Control Certification (such as CPESC or equivalent) is preferred.
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction safety certification is preferred.
- Safe land training is preferred
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
