The Welding Inspector is responsible for the QA / QC of the welding team, ensuring that all welds and fabrications are in accordance with Customer specifications as well as safety requirements. This position will operate independently from the rest of the welding team and will work in close cooperation with the Quality Assurance Department.
Job Responsibilities :
- Be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Knowledge of qualifying ASME WPS and welder / welding operator qualifications
- Perform visual inspection and PT required by ASME Code
- Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting unacceptable material.
- Approve in-process production by confirming specification, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to management.
- Approve finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning reworks and confirming reworks.
- Document inspection results by completing reports.
- Assist in identifying and developing solutions to correct inspection deficiencies.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
