What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Manager position at GRT Rubber Technologies?
PURPOSE
The Lab Manager oversees all aspects of the lab and ensures rubber quality for plant operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures all rubber is tested for plant operations.
- Supervises Lab Technician and provides training and support as necessary.
- Develops standard operating procedures and maintains records to comply with ISO.
- Ensures laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies are maintained.
- Monitors rubber inventory for ageing material.
- Identifies quality problems or areas for improvement and recommends solutions.
- Maintains and checks calibration of gauges used on the plant floor.
- Create and maintain certifications for applicable products.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge in Rubber testing per ASTM standards.
- Knowledge of operating a lab to meet production and customer needs.
- Troubleshooting quality issues.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Technical, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in an industrial-related field preferred.
- 5 years of industrial-related experience with at least 2 years of laboratory-related experience.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and work instructions.
MATH ABILITY
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
COMPUTER SKILLS
The incumbent needs a basic understanding of computers and printers

Works in a manufacturing environment in all types of weather. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works with manufacturing equipment. An employee performing the duties of this job is required to use proper safety procedures to eliminate any potential hazards. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
