Gruene Gables Pet Resort, owned and operated by veterinarians, opened its Lodging, Doggy Daycare, and Grooming Facility in November, 2022! A Pet Care Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary facility for animals and people and providing humane handling and care for all clinic pets. Assures all animals' nutrition, housing and medical needs are met on a daily basis. Assists the public when admitting boarders, daycare pets, and grooming pets.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
-Feed, walk, exercise, and bathe animals as needed in our care
-Clean, sanitize, and rinse all food and water bowls
-Clean up after animals both inside and outside the facility and clean animal runs and cages as needed; this includes scooping/cleaning poop and cleaning up urine in pet enclosures, exercise yards, and common areas
-Maintain the facility as a whole by performing tasks including, but not limited to, sweeping/mopping floors, wiping down counters, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms, laundry and dusting
-Availability should include weekdays, most weekends, and some holidays.
Skills and Abilities:
-Accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide
-Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or check list form
-Regularly stand for extended periods
-Frequently walk, stoop, kneel or crouch
-Lift and/or carry 50 pounds with out assistance
-Maintain confidence around pets and owners
-Use cleaning materials with skill and efficiency
-Maintain cooperative relationships with other staff members
-Record accurate information on the status, activities and behavior of each pet
-Recognize and record any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of any pet in clinic
-Report any health, behavior, or safety concerns to the manager or supervisor on duty
-Assist with other facility maintenance tasks and repairs as requested
Experience, Education, and/or Training:
-Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade
-Six months to one year of experience caring for pets is highly preferred
-Valid Texas Driver's License
Job Type: full-time
Pay: $13.00- $14.50 per hour
*previous pet care experience, skills, and leadership potential will be considered to determine pay rate; possibility for higher wage depending on these factors
