EHS Specialist
Job Summary
A leading organization is seeking an EHS Specialist to implement and oversee environmental, health, and safety (EHS) processes across multiple locations. This role will work closely with operational leadership to ensure compliance and support corporate EHS initiatives, with a particular focus on environmental management and performance metrics tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support for EHS operations across the organization.
- Stay informed about evolving state and national EHS regulations to ensure compliance.
- Act as the subject matter expert for the company’s internal EHS Management Software platform.
- Train new and existing plant management on EHS fundamentals and best practices.
- Assist in documenting and reporting EHS incidents, including injuries and chemical spills, and escalate reports as needed.
- Help compile and distribute key monthly EHS performance metrics to leadership.
- Implement and audit EHS programs and procedures to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for site leadership and EHS committees, fostering employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Assist in the development and execution of a centralized environmental management framework.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of environmental training programs for employees at all levels.
- Support environmental permitting processes across multiple locations.
- Collaborate with business leaders and on-site personnel to oversee Capital Improvement Projects.
- Provide assistance during regulatory inspections and serious incident investigations.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies regarding permit compliance, reporting, and inspections.
- Oversee disaster recovery protocols and business continuity planning.
- Advise HR Business Partners on workers’ compensation case management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- 1-5 years of experience in EHS, environmental management, and multi-site operations is preferred.
- Experience managing and implementing multiple EHS programs is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
- Requires manual and digital dexterity for prolonged data entry tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and spend extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
Travel Requirements
- 25-50% travel is expected.
- International travel, including trips to Canada and Mexico, may be required.
- A valid passport is necessary.
