What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication Estimator / Project Manager position at GSM Industrial, Inc?
Description
Primarily responsible for calculating the estimated costs of material, labor, equipment and contract services required to meet the fabrication needs of the customer. Working with the Account Managers to ensure that each project is executed within budget and on time while meeting or exceeding the quality standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluates customer drawings/specifications to determine suitability.
- Uses GSM systems and processes to produce accurate quotation documents, including detailed scope of work and communicates with prospect/customer.
- Uses GSM systems and processes to provide accurate pricing according to company goals for markup and profit margin.
- Consults with entire project team to establish appropriate goals, dates, constraints, technical process guidelines etc. Determines and contracts subcontractors as needed to align with internal scheduling.
- Completes order entry process assuring all customer, project details are properly entered in the system and communicated to internal team members.
- Develops long lasting, successful business relationships with new and existing accounts
- Ultimately responsible for:
- Creating an accurate estimate, which is the foundation for a successful project.
- Maintaining a positive customer relationship.
- Maintaining and facilitating appropriate communications with customer and internal teams.

- Willing to learn: How to read, and modify engineering drawings, CNC programing software, cut-list and purchasing systems.
Requirements
What You Bring (Experience & Qualifications)
- Minimum of two years in this or a related field OR equivalent combination of training and experience
- Knowledge of custom metal fabrication practices
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and material specifications.
- Project management, and computer skills
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate mathematical skills
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify opportunities and provide solutions with effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Confidence, sense of urgency, and a strong work ethic.
