Production Scheduler plays a crucial role in supporting efficient operations within the mill department. This position is responsible for maintaining critical reports, coordinating production schedules, managing inventory levels, and ensuring accurate documentation. The role requires close collaboration with team members across departments, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and proactive involvement in continuous improvement initiatives. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, sitting, walking, and lifting.
Essential Functions:
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain various reports and logs, including open order reports (Non-TIFF, TIFF, RIO, and machine shop reports). Update dates and distribute reports to relevant employees.
- Generate production travelers upon receipt of acknowledgments and route them to the Materials Manager or Director of Mill Operations for verification and sign-off.
- Report updates during daily whiteboard meetings for casting.
Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels for wire and strip materials to ensure availability for production.
- Oversee all aspects of Hypertherm operations, managing the process from initiation to completion during production.
Production Coordination
- Collaborate with the Materials Manager to plan and manage the melt schedule.
- Read and follow job specifications and all related work instructions accurately.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Follow established procedures for operating within the mill department.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Report any safety concerns or incidents to supervisors immediately.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with team members, including supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel, to ensure efficient production processes or resolve issues.
- Communicate effectively to address issues or concerns related to mill operations/planning.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency and productivity.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Capability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during shifts.
- The ability to lift or carry 50 lbs.
- Adherence to safety guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Work in a manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and create simple instructions, correspondence, and work instructions in English.
- Proficient in basic math operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpreting bar graphs.
- Knowledge of computing rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Experience with computer systems, particularly:
· JMAS
· Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
