What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visual Merchandising and Retail Environments Designer position at GSP MARKETING TECHNOLOGIES?
The Designer will work closely with the Retail Environments, Visual Merchandising, Creative and project management teams. This role requires someone highly motivated with strong design and execution skills as well as strategic thinking. This individual needs to have the ability to self-direct creative while having a strong understanding of the final product. The Designer will support other team members by taking designs and developing 2D and 3D renderings for the client. The incumbent will have the capability to envision and execute displays for various visual merchandising and retail environments. 2D drafting, CAD, Adobe suite and 3-D rendering capabilities and ability to expand skills is a must have.
Duties and Responsibilities
- 2D drafting skills for creation of elevations from store plans.
- Creative 2D / 3D concept generation for C-store, retail fixtures, décor etc., keeping in mind client expectation and budget.
- Engineer, build, and render concepts using 2D and 3D software to bring designs to life.
- Work within an established store design processes of how the concept is to be produced with efficiency and expertise.
- Work within provided design plans for accurate store décor application and specifications.
- The ability to research, design, and develop new ideas and products to sell to existing and new clients.
- Use provided art to create signage specs that are used for quoting and production.
- Ability to design fixtures and create mechanical designs.
Education and Experience
- 2 years of design expertise preferably in a retail environment
- Degree in fine arts, graphic design, drafting or engineering
- Ability to create and develop 2D and 3D renderings.
Qualifications, Skills Abilities and Competencies
- Ability to direct and articulate store design; ability to incorporate brand into designs
- Ability to understand store plans
- Strong computer skills using Adobe CS (Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator)
- Must have Revit and other related software like, AutoCAD, Blender or Sketchup
- Ability to communicate clearly with organized and accurate store designs
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage large workload, while producing quality work in a fast-pace environment with interruptions and deadlines
- Advanced ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- Knowledge and ability to proofread copy and data
- Proficiency with PC’s to include knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), maintaining data bases, generating information and tracking status using proprietary software
- Ability to build effective relationships internally and externally
- Ability to develop creative solutions to client and internal problems and challenges
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
- A strong portfolio with examples of 2D, 3D rendering, store design, retail environments experience desired but not required
- Ability to contribute to building a strong and positive team spirit as well as align with GSP values
- Ability to read and use elevation and floor plans.
