Job Summary:
The Office of Strategic Communication is seeking a Multimedia Designer with a comprehensive design skill set to join the creative team. This position will work within cross-functional teams to meet project objectives while demonstrating a high level of creativity, visual sensibility, attention to detail, problem-solving, and adherence to UW brand standards. The designer will concept and produce print, digital, social, and experiential work that helps tell the UW story. The ideal candidate will bring curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative ethos to this role.
Responsibilities: Designs and develops multimedia solutions and materials in collaboration with other content creators, adhering to project timelines and developing and posting content for a specified unit in support of visually and contextually communicating messages aligned with unit strategy.

Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Art, Fine Arts, or related field. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
Qualifications:
Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal, 12 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Salary:
Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

- 45% Conceptualizes, plans, designs, and executes multimedia solutions for a specific work unit that may be used through various platforms in collaboration with stakeholders and other content creation staff
- 25% Contributes to the development of communication, event, and marketing materials to fit into the overall strategy of the work unit
- 10% Tracks and manages timelines and deliverables related to communication projects
- 10% Executes and achieves quality control in the presentation of the UW-Madison brand across all platforms
- 10% Collaborates with cross-functional teams from the ideation phase through production

Education:

- Minimum of 2 years in a professional design position.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent sensibility for design and typography as well as knowledge of digital processes and production standards.
- Demonstrated creativity, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to organize, multitask and meet distinct deadlines while expressing a high degree of creativity.
- Experience working in Adobe Express, After Effects and Figma a plus, but not required
