What are the responsibilities and job description for the Level 1 Hardware Procurement Specialist position at GST MANUFACTURING?
GST is located in a great location just off I-820 in Haltom City, TX. The Level 1 Hardware Procurement Specialist will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of hardware and other necessary items for GST’s manufacturing facility. Purchased item types include, but are not limited to, various types of hardware, glass, hinge, shop supplies, etc. GST is looking for someone who will take ownership of the current area and make it more efficient.
The Procurement Specialist will: ·
- Place purchase orders with a variety of vendors at the correct price, quantity, etc.
- Research the most cost effective means of purchasing various hardware/materials in large quantities
- Develop working relationships with vendors (new and old) · Negotiate with vendors for best pricing ·
- Be responsible for conducting weekly cycle count audits of small parts inventory
- Ensure all status updates are provided to manufacturing and management on delivery, availability, etc.
- Problem solve with vendors in order to ensure timely delivery of product in unforeseen circumstances
- Manage inventory in Global Shop Solutions (ERP software) and be responsible for accuracy and all associated data entry for hardware/small parts purchasing ·
- Analyze data in order to find ways for continuous improvement in processes and purchasing
- Support the GST team in ensuring on time delivery of product
The Procurement Specialist should possess the following qualities:

- Ability to understand various metrics and the desire to dig into the ERP system to see what insights can be derived

- Must be self-motivated and be willing to ask questions of the team or of the vendor when there is a lack of understanding
Required Education and Experience
- Must have EXCELLENT computer skills, including the ability to compose a well-written
- Must be able to take direction from a supervisor
- Must have excellent interpersonal and telephone skills
Preferred Education and Experience
- Supply Chain Procurement Certificate
- CPSM or CPSD Certification
- Prior use of Global Shop Solutions is a major plus
- Procurement specifically related to hardware preferred
