Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

GSW Telecom is looking for installation and service technicians for low voltage cabling and security system installations in Tucson, surrounding cities and states.

This position requires Candidates to work 3rd shift 11pm-7am ( 8hrs shifts) .

Technicians must have a minimum of 3- 5 years of experience installing low voltage systems

Must be able to read prints, understand scope of work, and complete installations per code and industry standards.

The position of Field Technician works in a rapidly growing business line of installing and testing fiber optics, network cabling, IP-based telephony and surveillance systems, and Local Area Networking (LAN) infrastructure and integration.

Demonstrate adequate skills in EMT installation, with proficiency shown in bending small EMT and rigid conduits for ceiling or overhead cable runs.

Candidate must pass a government background check and a drug screening test.

Many of our projects are performed for customers in the U.S. Government, local/county government, and education segments

The successful candidate must have a verifiable legal history, including no felony's or DUI's, possess a strong credit score, and you must have a clean driving record. Professional appearance is always required.

Hourly Rate will depend on Work Experience, Job Competency, and Certifications.

PRIMARY EXPERIENCE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Category 6 (CAT6), Category 5e (Cat5e), coaxial, telephone line cabling, rough-in, termination, testing and certification.

2. Assemble and secure pipes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications. Attach pipe to walls, structures and fixtures.

3. Cut conduit to design specifications, using tools such as saws, pipe cutters, other related tools.

4. ‪Audio/Visual installation.

5. ‪Surveillance camera system installation.

6. Rack and stack and clean cabling.

7. Fiber optic termination/splicing, design and installation. (Not Required, Will provide On the Job training

8. Wireless point to point and multi points design, installation, and maintenance

9. ‪Main Distribution Frame (MDF) and Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) design and buildouts per engineering blueprints.

10. ‪Knowledge of new construction and retro-building networking.

11. ‪Loyalty, strong work ethic, and patience.

COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS:

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES

1. 3 years technical knowledge of and experience with the items listed in the section entitled, “Primary Experience & Responsibilities”, noted above.

2. Ability to install, troubleshoot, test, repair, and service Fiber Optic and Network Cabling as well as other IT network infrastructure and associated equipment.

3. Willing to work flexible shifts and ability to adapt to changing work schedules.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION (Level & Type of Degree if applicable)

· High School Diploma or College Degree or Diploma

· Relevant technical degree or certifications

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

· Proven Field Service experience in providing service and customer support during field visits or dispatches.

· Basic knowledge and use of IT test equipment, power tools, and hand tools.

· 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience or more preferred.

· Ability to align workflow with associated project implementation schedule.

· Produce timely and detailed service reports, as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS (if applicable)

Typical physical requirements and/or working conditions for the position and frequency those requirements occur (frequently, occasionally).

· Operate vehicle in a safe manner and use field automation systems, if required.

· Maintain proper care and handling of specialized IT testing and work-related equipment.

· Tasks may require the lifting of heavy/awkward items, more than 50 lbs.

· Other physical duties and following Safety Standards diligently are required.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITY:

AUTONOMY

· Follow all Company field procedures and protocols.

· Autonomy in decision-making will vary by project and task.

· Extent of decision-making authority or freedom will be directed by the employee’s supervisor and in accordance with standard company operating policies and procedures.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

· In coordination with their direct supervisor, the employee will be responsible for performing their job duties and associated tasks within the project’s broader implementation time-frames, operating costs, and budgets.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS

· Employee will regularly interface with customer site supervisors and will be responsible to build positive relationships with customers.

· Employee with maintain close communication and cooperation with other members of the GSW Telecom technical team and share information across the organization as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· This position does not have management and/or supervisory responsibility, except as temporarily directed by the employee’s supervisor.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay:$33.00 $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32- 40 per week
