Role Overview:
The Product Design Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the mechanical design team. This position will directly interface with other leadership members of the company, and will serve as the subject matter expert to their team in the mechanical design field. Further, this role will be expected to assist and participate in the design process of Company projects, which are large metal enclosures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directly oversee the Mechanical Design Engineers.
- Provide managerial insight to the Mechanical Design team, serving as the subject matter expert on the field and company projects.
- Manage the Mechanical Design Engineers workload and project schedules.
- Participate in company leadership meetings as needed to provide updates and insight on the Mechanical Design team.
- Participate in project work, creating 2D and 3D mechanical design plans for prefabricated enclosures. Details of the prefabricated enclosures encompass structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and communication systems including, duct systems, piping systems, mechanical equipment and electrical equipment using AutoCAD and Solid Works computer software
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent from a vocational training program or technical school
- At least 6 years experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, 3 of which are in a managerial capacity.
- Familiar with ISO shipping container construction methods.
- Familiar with prefabricated and modular construction methods.
- Familiar with sheet metal, metal framing and weldments.
- Candidate should have good oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and BIM/Solid Works is required.
- Must have a customer service perspective with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and clients.
- The successful candidate should be self-sufficient, have strong computer skills, and be very detail oriented.
- Must be proficient in MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook.
