GTI specializes in the design, engineering, fabrication, and deployment of custom modular structures, shipping container-based structures, and ballistic metal fabrication. We serve multiple industries, including DOD contractors, military, disaster relief, and commercial markets. Our containerized and modular solutions are all built in-house at our factory in Buffalo, NY. Manufacturing capabilities range from military training, live fire enclosures, bathroom / shower units, expeditionary camps, medical facilities, water treatment, electrical / energy storage enclosures, and much more.

The Welder / Fabricator at GTI will receive their daily tasks and responsibilities from their working lead. Tasks will be centered around the assembly of materials to create a finished product in accordance with Customer specifications. The individual will be responsible for always maintaining a safe work environment, as well as reading blueprints and schematics for product design.
- This will be a 2nd Shift position with hours of 3pm to 11 : 30pm.
Daily Responsibilities :
Work detail drawings fit-up piece parts in fixturing fit, tack and weld piece parts according to detail drawings with components consisting of steel channels, brackets, angles, sheathing, assemblies and sub-assemblies.Tack welds all parts together in equipment, ensuring all dimensions are correct to specified drawings.Weld complete assembly according to specified welding standards.Correct fabrication mistakes.Incorporate approved design changes where necessary.Fabricate shop fixtures as required by assembly personnel per engineering sketch.Meet production schedule, quality and planned labor hours with limited supervision.Utilization of hand and power shop tools.Understand and apply minimally these forms of welding, carbon steel, stainless steel, low alloy.Normally receives basic instructions on routine tasks and detailed instructions on new assignments.Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gapsTest and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.Requirements :
Proven experience as welder.Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.).Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.).Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.).Deftness and attention to detail.Additional Qualifications :
General mechanical background.Ability to use hand tools and welding tools safely.Minimum of 1 year experience in mechanical assembly, AWS certification (American Welding Society) for welding of carbon steel using GMAW process position 3G, Vertical up and 4F overhead.Able to work with limited supervision and follow instructions.Able to work as a team member in group situations.Fully understand manufacturing drawings, able to verify dimensions.Understand tolerance systems.Complete shop order documentation and time sheets.Meet internal Company standards for quality and workmanshipExpected to contribute and maintain conditions that will ensure a healthy and safe working environment.Working knowledge of torch and plasma equipment.Working knowledge of GTAW Welding.Ability to apply workmanship standards and understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.Able to perform basic tasks independently, limited supervision and in a group setting.GTI Fabrication is committed to equal opportunity for all, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, citizenship, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic.
