Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong background in group benefits to join our team as an Ancillary Benefits Consultant. This role plays a critical part in supporting our organization’s growth by managing the quoting and proposal process, analyzing data, and ensuring competitive rates for our clients.
This in-office position in Scottsdale, AZ offers the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week upon completion of training.
Key Responsibilities
- Proposal & Quoting Management: Oversee the end-to-end RFP process, including data collection, target pricing analysis, network evaluation, utilization review, and proposal preparation.
- Carrier Negotiations: Submit RFPs to appropriate markets, negotiate with carriers, and ensure competitive rates for our brokers to present to clients.
- Account Oversight: Manage assigned accounts, ensuring compliance with internal and external deadlines while maintaining service excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders, providing clear communication and support.
- Process Optimization: Plan, prioritize, and execute daily responsibilities to balance new business, renewals, and client service needs.
- Underwriting Coordination: Engage with underwriting teams to align objectives and streamline transitions between the field and home office.
- Additional Duties: Participate in special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Industry Expertise: Minimum of 3 years of experience in group benefits, with a strong understanding of Ancillary lines (Life, Voluntary Life, STD, LTD, Dental, Vision, FMLA).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and experience interpreting policy and contract language.
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for accuracy.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal teams and external clients.
- Team-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Prioritization & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has prior experience in underwriting, claims, account management, or benefits consulting for Ancillary products. Experience working at a broker/agency is highly preferred, though candidates with carrier experience (e.g., MetLife, SunLife, Lincoln Financial, The Hartford, Mutual of Omaha, MassMutual) will also be considered.
Candidates with limited exposure to Life and Disability products or those who have not worked in these product lines within the past three years are unlikely to be a strong fit.
