About you:
We are looking for someone to join the GTreasury team as a Senior Legal Counsel, responsible for managing and overseeing all legal aspects of the company. This position will be key to ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting the group’s interests, and providing strategic advice to all areas of the business.
The successful candidate will be the first legal hire at GTreasury and should be a self-starter who is passionate about the role and who will build, own, and manage GTreasury’s internal legal function, implementing and professionalizing procedures for cost and time efficiencies while creating value and protecting the business from risk. They will be able to work autonomously and efficiently, quarterbacking engagement on legal matters with assistance from external legal counsel and will report directly to the CFO.
What will your role be?
- Take ownership of the GTreasury legal function.
- Provide efficient, effective, and commercially minded legal advice on a variety of topics in an effort to minimize risk and ensure best practices are applied across the business.
- Maintain, develop and update template contracts.
- Coordinate the contracting process and assist with negotiating contracts with suppliers and customers.
- Take the lead on document management.
- Assist on acquisition processes, including with NDAs and transaction documentation and due diligence coordination, in collaboration with external legal experts.
- Manage legal aspects of any post-acquisition integration.
- Lead and manage internal legal matters, including governance, policies, procedures, templates, and protocols.
- Provide advice to the executive team and management on a range of compliance and risk management matters, improving ESG, hygiene and corporate governance.
- Oversee compliance with data protection and privacy matters across the global organisation.
- Provide cross functional support and leverage across all areas of the business, including IP, GenAI, real estate and employment.
- Manage and oversee relationships with external lawyers and other legal service providers.
- Stay updated on legislative changes affecting the business.
What are we looking for in you?
- Be our corporate legal advisor with a service mindset and commercial vision.
- US or UK law qualified, able to work across both jurisdictions.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree (for US candidates) or LLB (Bachelor of Laws) degree or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a lawyer in a law firm or as an in-house lawyer.
- Commercially-focused advisor with an ability to act as a partner to sales, executive and senior leadership teams, and the wider organization.
- Excellent business/legal judgment and decision-making skills.
- Proactivity, autonomy, and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrates initiative, drive, and determination to achieve results, success, and growth.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Have the ability to simplify complex legal concepts into practical, business-oriented advice.
- Solid understanding of applicable contract law and related issues.
- Strong experience of working in SaaS, negotiating B2B SaaS customer agreements.
- Ability to manage and advise on legal matters across multiple jurisdictions, including UK, UK, Australia, Switzerland and Ireland.
- Strong understanding of data protection laws including GDPR, UK Data Protection Act and the CPA as well as industry specific legislation (e.g. DORA).
- Familiarity with regulated businesses and working with complex Financial Services / banking clients.
- Familiarity with M&A processes.
- Keen interest in automation and legal tech, ESG and CSR.
- Experience working with and managing relationships with outside counsel.

- Salary: The expected minimum and maximum full-time salaries for this role is $155,000-$250,000. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance, qualifications, experience, and location.
