Position Summary
The Care Center Administrator has primary responsibility for the overall operation and fiscal management of the Care Center. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, resident care and regulatory agency standards. Responsible for directing and developing the Care Center’s Department Heads. Responsible to model and promote quality resident, family, staff, and community relations. The Administrator will represent the Care Center and Guardian Angels in the community and with various community groups that are involved in the Care Center. Ensure that all day--to –day operations are being performed in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient manner which is consistent with Guardian Angels’ mission and high standards for service and care.
Responsible for work supplies and tools to ensure that resources are being used wisely. Supports and implement
all safety practices. Each employee who witnesses a resident experiencing pain (verbal report of pain, moaning, facial grimacing, crying, holding part of body, etc.) will notify unit nurse for observation/assessment and interventions.

Job Duties
Directs overall operation/fiscal management of Care Center.
- Planning: Ensures the best use of staff, time and resources within each department
- Financial Management: Regularly monitors financial conditions and evaluates costs, budgets, purchases, etc. Responsible for assuring sound financial performance of facility. Develops annual budget. Monitors worker’s compensation ratios and accounts receivable.
- Policies and Procedures: Develops, reviews and/or implements policies, procedures and programs relevant to the operation of the Care Center.
- Compliance: Ensures that all day-to-day operations meet established standards and/or expectations for quality, safety, profitability, and legal compliance. This may involve active participation and/or leadership on standing and/or ad hoc committees such as the Safety Committee.
- Oversees the recruitment, hiring, firing, reviews, grievances and other personnel-related issues for Care Center personnel.
- Oversees training and continuing education opportunities for staff. Acts as a coach and resource to Department Heads regarding personnel and other Care Center issues.
- Directly supervises, delegates to, and evaluates performance of Department Heads and other designated staff. Signs time sheets, vacation requests and other related documents.
- Facilitates regular Department Head meetings.
- Supports Care Center Auxiliary and volunteer activities. Attends auxiliary meetings.
- Positive and visible spokesperson for Guardian Angels in the community.
- Promotes a health work environment in which all employees are treated with courtesy, respect and dignity. Values every employee as a professional.
- Initiates interactions with residents, resident families, and other Care Center visitors to assure they are valued.
- Works in partnership with GA board on issues related to goals, policies, program decisions and resource, management or financial decisions.
- Contributes board agenda items.
- Prepares and presents information and issues to boards. May facilitate discussion of agenda items.
- Follows-up on board actions.
- Functions as the primary Care Center contact person for all boards.
- Keeps Board and Divisional Director Team and or CEO/President informed of pertinent issues and performance indicators relevant to Care Center operations.
- Prepares for and participates in regular Divisional Director Team meetings.
- Accepts responsibility for special projects as assigned by the CEO/President and or the Divisional Director Team.
- Works closely with board representatives and those on the Divisional Director Management Team. Develops effective working relations with Care Center residents, resident families, employees, volunteers, Care Center Auxiliary, vendors, consultants, professional organizations, and the community.
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- MN Long-Term Care Administrator license required.
- EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 8-10 years prior Administrator experience in long term care.
- Working knowledge of personnel administration, health care planning and operation and administration and fiscal management.
- Knowledge of nursing, medical and reimbursement practices and procedures as well as working knowledge of all resident services.
- Familiarity with state and national long-term care issues and trends.
- Strong organization, planning and management and fiscal skills required.
- Ability to make independent and innovative decisions while being both a leader and team player.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and written are essential. Computer literacy required.
