About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Design Engineering Manager to join our team at the corporate office in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. This role is pivotal in optimizing our company's engineering capabilities. As the Design Engineering Manager, you will lead our design engineering team, collaborating with sales, marketing, operations, and external resources to deliver precise building engineering calculations, plans, drawings, and estimates for prefabricated modular buildings across various applications. Responsibilities include project coordination based on customer requests and specifications, driving innovation for new products and enhancements. The position will be based out of our Waynesboro, PA facility, and reports to the Director of Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the post-sale technical liaison to customer architects, engineers, and project managers.
- Collaborate with supplier technical support to identify materials meeting required specifications.
- Direct drafters in producing drawings aligning with project specifications, building code requirements, and modular construction methods.
- Secure stamped drawings and state certifications with external and internal resources.
- Oversee the creation of production BOMs, Material Lists, and Assembly Instruction Sheets for manufacturing based on project drawings.
- Manage project schedules for transparent and timely completion.
- Provide consistent project updates to stakeholders on strategy, adjustments, and progress.
- Drive innovation initiatives for improved products and lower manufacturing costs.
- Support marketing initiatives requiring technical guidance.
- Collaborate with the Sales team to interpret customer designs, specifications, and requests using computer-aided design tools, while ensuring compliance with building codes and verifying quotation accuracy.
- Support the Sales team in reviewing bid submittals and proposals.
- Assist the Operations team in ensuring manufacturing compliance with provided specifications and manufacturability.
- Stay updated on applicable building material specifications.
- Hire and supervise internal and/or external engineering staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Lead research and development projects for new designs, products, and processes in the Engineering department.
- Ensure the validity of methods used in manufacturing and installation.
- Develop and lead the Product Innovation Initiative, a company-wide idea-generating program for improved products and processes to remove waste and enhance value.
- Participate in the selection of technically capable suppliers.
- Manage multiple customers, tasks, and projects simultaneously.
- Facilitate team meetings with a focus on team engagement, effective communication, key performance indicators and problem-solving.
- Deliver engineering services and design plans that are first-time right and on time.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in design engineering and project management of residential and commercial construction.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant leadership position.
- Experience in modular construction and fabrication preferred.
- Knowledge of IBC, NFPA, IRC, IPC, and all other relevant construction codes.
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- High proficiency with AutoCAD structural framing and Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) drawings and specifications.
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.

Salary:
$90,000 - $110,000
