The Dean of Student Services is a mission-driven leader responsible for developing and overseeing programs that address the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of students in Pre-K 3 through 8th grade. This position ensures alignment with the school’s Catholic identity, mission, and values while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The Dean of Student Services collaborates with faculty, parents, and external partners to implement best practices in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and intervention strategies that promote student growth and success. Additionally, this role supports the implementation of Parentally Placed Private School Students (PPPSS) plans, ensuring eligible students receive appropriate services.
Essential Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
- Design and oversee student support programs that address academic interventions, social-emotional learning, English Language Learners (ELL), and behavior management.
- Ensure student support services align with the school’s Catholic mission and educational goals.
- Implement data-driven strategies to support students with diverse learning needs, including students requiring Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services.
- Coordinate and facilitate PPPSS plans for eligible students, working with families and local education agencies to ensure access to appropriate support services.
Staff Collaboration & Professional Development:
- Partner with teachers to implement inclusive classroom strategies that support student success.
- Provide professional development for faculty and staff on differentiated instruction, trauma-informed practices, and positive behavior supports.
- Lead student support teams to develop intervention plans and foster a Christ-centered school culture.
Student and Family Support:
- Develop and oversee intervention programs to address academic, behavioral, and socio-emotional needs.
- Address barriers to learning such as attendance, health, and socio-economic challenges.
- Serve as a resource for parents and guardians, helping them access student support services, including PPPSS plans, and understand best practices in student development.
Collaboration & Ethical Practices
- Work with the principal to set short- and long-term goals for student support services.
- Partner with families, school staff, and external agencies to provide resources for students.
- Ensure ethical and best-practice approaches in student support services, following Catholic teaching and best practices in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and intervention.
Data and Resource Management:
- Use student performance data to drive instructional decisions and measure program effectiveness.
- Manage budgets for student support services, including grants, PPPSS funding, and other supplemental funding sources.
- Oversee Extended School Year programs and academic support initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education, Exceptional Student Education, School Administration, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in education, preferably in student services, intervention programs, or Exceptional Student Education (ESE).
- Strong knowledge of intervention strategies, differentiated instruction, and data-driven decision-making.
- Commitment to Catholic education and the development of the whole child.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex programs.
