Position: Dean of Student Support Services FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt Location: Guardian Catholic School Diocesan Entity: Guardian Catholic School Immediate Supervisor: Principal Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Academic Services:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of a Child Study Team, including service as the team’s chair
- Responsible for the production and annual review of all Student Support Plans (SSPs)
- Coordinate and oversee all service providers (speech, tutoring, etc.) and school remediation/resource staff
- Support all aspects of direct and differentiated instruction
- Review and analyze assessment data in collaboration with Principal and Child Study Team
- Represent the school in meetings and conferences related to curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Make recommendations pertaining to policy and procedure to the Principal
- Coordinate and supervise the student support program for the school, including implementation of a K-8 Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) system.
- Conduct small group instruction (or Tier II interventions)
- Provide one-on-one (or Tier III) interventions for students
- Facilitate professional development related to differentiated instruction and/or MTSS to the faculty on an as needed basis
- Provide in-class support and coaching to teacher in relation to differentiated instruction and assessment
- Coordinate and develop support plans for student with documented and identified learning needs
- Collaborate with the Principal to produce reports for external stakeholders.
- Work with Principal’s leadership team to recruit staff members and teachers
- Oversee and evaluate Child Study Team members as well as learning support staff
- Provide regular, formative feedback for Child Study Team members and learning support staff
- Conduct all admissions screening assessments and evaluations
- Coordinate the review/assessment of current curriculum to ensure that academic programs and resources are meeting intended objectives and requirements
- Assist in the selection and acquisition of instructional materials
- Assist with coordination of instructional support for new teachers
- Serve on the school admissions team
- Maintain physical environment conducive to learning
- Keep the principal informed of classroom activities designed to support struggling students
- Maintain records and prepare quarterly grade reports as required
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences as needed or when requested by the parent
- Update end-of-the year records
- Uphold school mission and belief statements and support the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church
- Establish a Christ-centered environment by modeling the Guardian Catholic School mission statement, root beliefs, and core values, including vital adult behaviors
- Observe and uphold diocesan and local policies
- Uphold school policies outlined in the faculty and student handbook
- Participate in professional trainings
- Participate in catechetical training
- Maintain accurate records
- Attend and participate in all faculty and staff meetings
- Perform all other duties assigned by Principal
