What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Individual Markets Strategic Transformation position at Guardian Life Insurance Company?
In this role, you will report to the Head of Individual Markets Strategy, Innovation and Growth and be responsible for managing a portfolio of transformational initiatives across Life, Annuity, Disability, Wealth Management, and Distribution. As Head of Individual Markets Strategic Transformation, you will oversee a portfolio of cross-functional initiatives and capabilities to drive strategic clarity and business impact. You will work with leaders across the Individual Markets (IM) organization, including the Head of IM Finance, to prioritize and ensure successful implementation of these initiatives and capabilities. You will be pivotal in creating the structure and processes for accelerating transformation and partnering with Business and functional leaders in driving change and reimagining how we operate within and across functions to deliver customer value.
You will
- Partner with business leaders and teams to scope, define and coordinate major strategy and innovation initiatives
- Manage the portfolio prioritization process of all key Individual Markets initiatives supporting IM strategic objectives, working across business stakeholders, marketing, technology and other enterprise partners
- Prioritize and sequence initiatives and build an integrated roadmap for execution with clear metrics for success
- Define the model, in collaboration with Finance, by which to prioritize and drive optimization of the efforts across IM, inclusive of estimation, resource capacity and funding allocations
- Provide expertise and guidance to rationalize business resource optimization and capacity planning across IM key initiatives
- Use expertise and leadership skills to oversee strategic program execution, and resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met
- Develop executive and board level material and presentations
You are

- Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate and lead complex workstreams
- Able to navigate relationships across all levels and cross-functional areas of the organization using strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and judgement
- Able to lead while adapting to changing business priorities and environments
You have
- 10 years’ experience with proven success supporting C suite executives, leading large scale or enterprise-wide, complex transformation projects that cross multiple business units to create internal stakeholder and external customer solutions
- Significant business transformation / optimization, project management, strategy consulting, and/or investment banking experience
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior executive leadership and organizational savvy with the ability to influence while building trust and consensus among multiple stakeholders/cross functional teams with competing interests
- Prior experience working with financial services, particularly in the insurance industry, a must
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
Location
- The primary location for this position is New York, NY (3 days) - 2 days WFH
Salary Range:
$174,760.00 - $287,102.50
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
