We are now looking for a US Political Correspondent to help the DC team cover the second Trump administration by bringing political and foreign policy expertise.

• Report analytical stories and global-facing explainers on the political news of the day.
• Write multiple politics and breaking political stories a day.
• Write sharp, clean copy under tight deadlines.
• Pitch multiple ideas every morning, drawing together themes from the day's news.
• Contribute to weekly politics meetings.

About You

• Strong reporting and writing skills.
• Ability to synthesize the news of the day into leading politics stories.
• Ideally have sources throughout Washington and in the diplomatic community
• Many years experience covering politics and foreign affairs in DC and abroad
• Strong grasp of the Guardian's readers in the US and internationally
• An ability to generate fresh ideas and angles for stories and storytelling formats.
• Excellent writing, communication and research skills.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $93,000 - $99,500 annually
