What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Controller position at Guardian Security Systems, Inc.?
We are seeking a Corporate Controller to ensure the accuracy and integrity of company financial records. As the Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction, coordination, and management of the company’s accounting functions including accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, contract accounting, and general ledger.
As the Corporate Controller is an upper-level management position reporting directly to the Vice President this person will require both a professional strategic mindset and hands-on approach, supporting the organization’s Senior Management team, department managers and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and oversite of our accounting systems, internal financial controls, policies and procedures to maintain accurate financial records.
- Supervise and provide support to the accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable and contract accounting administrators.
- Produce monthly in-house financial reports for our Senior Management team.
- Develop the annual corporate budget and monthly forecasts.
- Manage the yearly financial statement review, tax preparation, and draft financial statements.
- Consistently review systems, workflows, processes and staffing to ensure operational efficiencies and accuracy of data.
- Identify and provide training and development opportunities for the accounting department.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and team building skills and develop and mentor accounting staff. This includes setting performance goals and conducting performance evaluations.
- Assist with special projects, research, and analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (encouraged)
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting (may substitute)
- Advanced Excel skills, SQL experience a plus
- Strong problem solving and reasoning
- Able to prioritize and meet multiple competing deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication
