Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of a large multi-unit restaurant group, and its subsidiaries based in Anchorage, Alaska. The Controller will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage cash flow, including monitoring and forecasting cash requirements.
  • Accounting Operations:
    • Supervise accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
    • Lead the period-end and year-end close processes.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
    • Collaborate with department heads to provide financial support and guidance for operational decision-making.
  • Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Manage tax planning and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including income tax, and other relevant filings.
    • Consult with tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of long-term financial strategies and goals.
    • Provide financial modeling and analysis for new business opportunities, capital investments, and expansion plans.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Systems and Process Improvement:
    • Evaluate and improve financial systems and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
    • Implement and manage financial software and tools to streamline operations.

        Qualifications:

        • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
        • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or similar leadership role, preferably in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
        • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, and tax regulations.
        • Experience managing multi-unit operations, particularly within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
        • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; experience with Sage software is a plus.
        • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
        • Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of team management.
        • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
        • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
