Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs preventative maintenance on golf course irrigation systems.
- Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads.
- Properly inventories and stocks all irrigation parts and tools in order to minimize down time.
- Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements.
- Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on distribution lines, valve risers, electrical systems, computers and irrigation control wires.
- Reports any serious irrigation breaks immediately to the
- Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
- Prioritizes irrigation breaks and uses time efficiently.
- Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads of the entire golf facility.
- Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure the system is operating properly.
- Is responsible for winterization and blowout of irrigation system, including all water lines, valve and pump stations.
- Incorporates safe work practices into job performance.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
- Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf.
- Must have a willingness to learn.
- Must be driven and possess a strong work ethic.
- Ability to understand and follow oral direction.
- Ability to work to prioritize workload and work on multiple projects at once.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is often required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
- They will occasionally be required to balance, stoop, twist upper body, kneel and climb.
- They employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Moderate exposure to extreme cold, heat, working outdoors, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, pollen, dust, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards.
- Noise level is typically moderate to loud.
