Position Summary
Guggenheim Treasury Services (GTS), a structured financing business within Guggenheim Partners, is seeking an exceptional operations and risk focused individual to join as Head of Program Compliance. This person will lead the middle office function for the GTS business, managing a team with a number of responsibilities, including the following: reviewing and approving new front office transactions, ensuring sufficient liquidity support for debt issuance, managing regulatory trade reporting, approving funds transfers and deposits, coordinating margin calls and collateral movements, and preparing risk reports. This hire will also serve as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for a SEC-registered security-based swap dealer (SBSD) run by GTS. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a dynamic middle office team with significant responsibilities in a major financial institution and will possess strong organizational and analytical skills. The successful candidate will also have experience with fixed income markets and ideally will be familiar with the asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) space.
The role presents an opportunity to join one of the initial business lines of Guggenheim Partners.
This position can be in either our Chicago office or New York City office and will report on-site 3-4 days per week.
Essential Job Functions
Day-to-day transaction-related responsibilities:
- Evaluate and approve new transactions as having sufficient liquidity support for debt issuance
- Respond to front office requests for approval in a prompt manner
- Approve funds transfers and deposits, ABCP issuances and redemptions, securities purchases and sales, and other transactions
- Work with other groups to ensure proper recording and analysis of new transaction types
- Sign and release trade confirmations
Chief Risk Officer responsibilities:
- Oversee production of relevant risk reports
- Monitor and identify risks in the business
- Interface with the SEC as needed on risk-related questions
Trade reporting responsibilities:
- Ensure that security-based swap trades are reported to the SEC repository in a timely fashion
Valuations, margining and collateral management responsibilities:
- Review asset prices and swap valuations provided by the valuation group
- Reconcile valuations with counterparty valuations
- Submit margin calls to counterparties and work through any related disputes
- Oversee periodic portfolio reconciliations with swap counterparties
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading and managing a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Comfort operating under pressure and managing stress
- Knowledge of various financial markets, including asset-backed commercial paper
- Strong sense of risk and critical thinking
- Exceptionally strong attention to detail
- Display good relationship qualities, team spirit, and ability to work cross-functionally
- Proactive and displays willingness to take initiative
- Ability to effectively listen and communicate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant operations and middle office experience at a global bank or other major financial institution
- Willing and able to work in office 3 to 4 days per week in either Chicago or NYC
Salary
- Annual base salary is between $200,000 and $250,000, plus opportunity for incentive compensation.
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
