At Guilford Technical Community College, we are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as an Instructor in the Engineering Department. This is a full-time, temporary position that requires teaching engineering courses designed for transfer to university baccalaureate programs.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and teaching introductory engineering courses, including statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and materials science. They will also be required to maintain a professional status that supports the instructional mission by participating in professional development activities and maintaining current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach departmental courses
- Develop learner-centered lesson plans
- Employ teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles
- Incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments
- Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
Requirements
- Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- Post-secondary teaching experience in introductory Engineering courses and/or experience in providing industry-based training/education on introductory engineering content
- Experience with engineering computing applications (e.g., C or C , Matlab, Solid Works)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- Doctoral degree from an accredited university
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems

They must be able to multi-task, respect diversity, adapt to changing procedures, protocols, or assignments, create and maintain a learner-centered environment, communicate effectively, and implement and apply technology solutions.
