Job Description :
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, while also actively managing the contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risk associated with vendor and customer agreements. The Controller will lead and mentor a small, diverse accounting team. This position reports directly to the Vice President and President.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide macro-level accounting guidance, best practices, and mentorship vertically and laterally to every company department.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and other financial systems.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the President, providing analysis and recommendations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and other reporting requirements.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, and other financial service providers.
- Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process.
- Preform budget vs. actual analysis.
- Research and analyze complex accounting issues.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Works with other departments to prepare cost estimates and cost volumes for contract proposals.
- Review, negotiate, and draft complex contracts with vendors and clients to ensure alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
- Manage the contract lifecycle, tracking key milestones, and ensuring compliance with contract obligations.
- Manage contract amendments, renewals, and termination processes.
- Develop and implement contract management procedures and best practices.
- Identify potential risks associated with contracts and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Monitor contract performance and address any issues that arise.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending professional and educational workshops and establishing personal networks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
