Job Title:  Program Coordinator- College and Career

 

Wage/Hour Status:  Exempt

 

Pay Group:  A15  $63,240 Annually

Primary Purpose:  Develop and maintain partnerships with colleges, employment partners, and external stakeholders to perform transitional service work. This work includes assessing student and resident needs to facilitate access to educational and workforce programs.

 

Provide support for College and Career Readiness Standards for instruction and curriculum that is provided within Windham School District.

 

Maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of labor market information and compliance with current and trending industry standards, employment and training opportunities.

 

Maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of postsecondary education programs to assist district administration with student advisement, recruitment, professional development and operations.  

 

Education/Certification/Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) in Education, Business Administration, Social Work, Criminal Justice or a related field.

 

Four years full-time, wage-earning or lived experience in education, workforce development, reentry services, industry employment, criminal justice or a related field.

 

Each year of experience in excess of the required four years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year for year basis.

 

Experience in the corrections setting preferred.

 

Adult education experience preferred.

 

This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

Ability to demonstrate understanding and awareness fo the employment related concerns of students transitioning into the workforce.

 

Ability to develop and maintain a strong relationship with community organizations, colleges, potential employers, and district stakeholders.

 

Ability to demonstrate strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

 

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.

 

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

 

Knowledge of district’s organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

1. Coordinate regional district efforts in developing college partnerships and prior learning agreements with Windham School District.

 

2. Coordinate with the district’s Apprenticeship, On-the-Job Training and Career and Technical Education programs to ensure understanding and awareness of the employment related concerns of students transitioning into the workforce.

 

3. Coordinate with the district’s Assessment, Advisement and Records department to ensure understanding and awareness of postsecondary education programs, student advisement and recruitment objectives, and operational processes.

 

4. Regional coordination of district efforts in identifying employment opportunities for students.

 

5. Prepare written and oral reports and related documents.

 

6. Establish and maintain positive communication with regional district, community, industry, regulatory and agency partners.

 

7. Provide support to administrative and campus staff regarding college and career readiness standards to include curriculum development and professional development. 

 

8. Facilitate completion of occupational licensing application for eligible students in region of assignment. 

 

9. In coordination with the Reentry and Integration Division unit reentry case managers, establish employer partnerships and facilitate in-person and virtual interviews with employers and students or graduates to secure employment in the field of training prior to reentry. 

 

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

11. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties. 

 

12. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.

 

13. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.

 

14. Execute duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247, Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

 

Supervisor Responsibilities: None.

Moderate travel is required.

 

Environmental Demands:

 

Work inside and outside, noise, radiant/electrical energy, work alone, work with others, around machines with moving parts and objects, possible exposure to microwaves in use, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
