GCTD JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:                                           FACILITY CUSTODIAN

LOCATION:                                          GALVESTON / BRAZORIA COUNTIES 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:                      FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT, BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE 

 

SUMMARY

 

The facility custodian will be responsible for cleaning GCTD facilities, including hallways, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and other facility areas. The facility custodian will sweep, vacuum, dust, mop, and wipe production areas, clean spills, and empty trash bins. The facility custodian will also be responsible for maintaining and stocking cleaning supplies in each GCTD facility, maintaining inventory records, and requesting new supplies. 

 

REQUIRED JOB DUTIES, ABILITIES, TRAITS 

 

  • Ability to deal professionally, ethically, and effectively with customers, co-workers, vendors, and the public, including providing prompt and courteous customer service
  • Ability to express self clearly and effectively, orally and in writing
  • Adherence to GCTD all policies and procedures 
  • Attend all mandatory program or staff meetings
  • Clean and maintain the interior of GCTD facilities to include floors, walls, tiles, carpets, rugs, windows, walls, kitchen, dish areas, and drains
  • Clean, dust, disinfect, and maintain all ceiling fans, air intakes, HVAC air vents, break rooms, restrooms, office spaces, windows, lamps, mirrors, light fixtures, kitchens, dish areas, floors, walls, drains, wood, other facility fixtures, and commonly used facility items
  • Empties trash & recycling bins to include cleaning and maintenance of bins
  • Maintain cleaning inventory to include restocking of supplies
  • Maintain documentation according to GCTD policies and procedures
  • Mop floors
  • Must maintain a clean driving record and driver's license 
  • Provide responsive, efficient services and assistance when required
  • Requires ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Responsible for maintenance of storage areas, cleanliness, and stocking
  • Responsible for safely and correctly operating all facility maintenance equipment
  • Treat all individuals with courtesy, decency, respect, and professionalism
  • Use all chemicals properly in the correct quantities for safety and cost control
  • Will be responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the GCTD policies and procedures and will require communication with various departments and co-workers to foster, develop and continue our community partnerships as it relates to the position

 

SUPERVISION

 

  • Receives direct supervision from the director of Human Resources

REQUIRED EDUCATION

 

  • High School Diploma or GED. Any education or experience above the required education and job duties of the position are preferred and will be evaluated as it relates to experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

 

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • English proficiency
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • One (1) year of customer service experience and or facility custodian experience
  • Requires proficiency with computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office applications, using a computer with a keyboard and mouse, navigation with a web browser, checking and sending email, and use of internet search engines 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills

 

 

REQUIRED LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS

 

  • Requires a valid Texas Driver's license
  • At minimum liability insurance
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Any education or experience above the required education and job duties of the position are preferred and will be evaluated as it relates to experience

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • May require travel to various locations within Brazoria and Galveston Counties. 
  • Work hours will be assigned based on GCTD business needs and may include varied work hours, weekends, holidays, irregular hours, mornings, evenings, split shifts, and overtime
  • Out of region travel may be required 
  • Work hours will be assigned based on GCTD business needs
  • Work will be performed in the office, field, and or remote settings

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS 

 

  • Assist lead bus operators, managers, dispatchers, or directors when requested to complete special projects and complete all assignments within a negotiated time frame
  • Completion of other duties as assigned by supervisor as it relates to the program and position

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods
  • Ability to transport, adjust, and or move items up to 50 lbs.
