Under limited supervision, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for promoting the department’s services, programs, events, and the City Store’s retail operations. This position manages departmental website content, social media, and public relations while designing marketing materials for the department and retail outlets. The coordinator ensures the City Store and related retail operations are effectively marketed to increase visibility and drive sales. A key focus of the role includes attending departmental events and programs to capture images and videos for recap and future marketing opportunities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Website and Social Media Management: Manages the department’s website content and social media channels, including those for the City Store. Instructs, trains, and supervises the activities of department staff on the website, social media, and other communication outlets. Prepares and distributes news releases and information to the public and media. Develops opportunities for feature articles and interviews that enhance public awareness of both the department and retail operations. Content Creation: Develops marketing materials for services, events, programs, and the City Store across various media, including digital, print, radio, and video. Produces publicity materials such as brochures, newsletters, flyers, signage, and promotional items, ensuring cohesive branding for the department and retail operations in compliance with the City’s Brand Standards. City Store & Retail Marketing: Creates and executes marketing strategies specifically aimed at increasing traffic and sales for the City Store and retail operations. This includes online and offline promotional campaigns, special offers, product highlights, and collaboration with local partners to boost visibility. Event Participation & Multimedia Capture: Attends departmental events and programs, capturing high-quality images and videos for recaps and future marketing use. Collaborates with event coordinators to document activities that can be leveraged for promotional content, showcasing community engagement and the vibrancy of City offerings.Public Relations & Community Engagement: Represents the department at marketing and communication groups, community events, and trade shows. Develops relationships with media and community contacts, coordinates media-related inquiries, and maintains a contact database for both the department and retail efforts.Applies purchasing guidelines for associated public relations departmental projects to include the development of requests for bids and requests for proposals.Develops post-event and post-campaign reports to assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts for departmental services, events, programs and the City Store. Maintains inventory and manages logistics for promotional materials and retail merchandise.
