Purchasing Agent

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. based in Nappanee, Indiana is a leading name in the recreational vehicle (RV) industry, dedicated to creating high-quality, innovative RVs that provide exceptional comfort and adventure for their customers. With a legacy spanning several decades.

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. is currently looking to fill a vital role for a Purchasing Agent in our Etna Green, Indiana Plant. This role is responsible for the procurement of materials, components, and services necessary for RV production.

General Responsibilities:

• Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers for RV components, materials, and services.
• Maintain and build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply and quality.
• Prepare and process purchase orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Track order status and ensure timely delivery, coordinating with suppliers and internal departments.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify potential shortages or excess inventory.
• Recommends optimal inventory levels to minimize costs and ensure production needs are met.
• Conduct market research and analyze pricing trends to secure the best possible prices and terms.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers, aiming to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
• Ensure that purchased materials and components meet quality standards and specifications.
• Collaborate with quality control personnel to address any issues or defects.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and other relevant documents.
• Prepare reports and analysis as needed to support purchasing decisions.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient procurement processes.

General Requirements/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with AS400 and Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management in the RV industry required.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of RV industry standards and regulations.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.

Gulf Stream offers competitive wages depending on experience. Required High School diploma or GED. Preferred 2 years’ experience or an associate’s degree in a related field.
